Create a translation key

See how to create translation keys so your documents can be translated into multiple languages.

Updated today

This feature requires Shipmondo Pro. See the full feature list.

A translation key can be used to translate a text value on, for example, your packing slip, pick list, and pick path list.

Under Settings > Translations > Translation keys, you’ll find predefined translation keys in Danish, English, German, Norwegian, and Swedish.

We have pre-translated keys such as sku, reference, receiver, and more.

You can edit these keys by clicking on an individual key, or create additional translation keys by clicking the Plus button (+) in the bottom right.

Create translation key

When you click the Plus button (+) in the bottom right, a pop-up window opens where you can specify the name of the key you want to create.

For example, you may want to add ‘weight’ to your pick list.

Start by creating the translation key by manually entering the key name, the text value in one or more languages, and the resource type, i.e. whether it should be used on the packing slip, pick list, or pick path list, or several of them.

Then click Create.

You will now see it in your overview of translation keys, and you can choose to translate the key manually or use our automatic translation feature.

If you want to manually translate the text values into the other languages, simply click the key and edit it.

If you want to translate it automatically, select the key in the overview and click Translate automatically:

After confirming that you want to translate the selected translation key using Google Translate, it will appear in your overview in the languages you have selected:

Add or remove languages

Under Translations > Languages, you can add or remove languages for your documents.

Click the Plus button (+) in the bottom right and select the language you want to add from the dropdown menu.

The language will then appear in the overview of added languages under Languages and in your language overview under Translation keys.

By default, a new language is not applied until you actively select it:

By clicking the three dots next to a language, you can set it as the primary language for your documents or remove it entirely so it no longer appears in the overviews under Languages and Translation keys:

With one or more newly added languages, you can similarly fill in text values manually or use the automatic translation feature under Translation keys.

The key is inserted into a document using Liquid scripting.
