When you create shipments manually, it can take time to click your way through the different fields and sections, especially if there is a lot of information to fill in.
That is why we developed the command palette. With simple keyboard shortcuts, you can quickly find the actions and fields you need and move through the booking flow faster.
How to do it
Learn the right shortcuts
Start by opening the command palette with Ctrl+K (Windows) or Cmd (⌘)+K (Mac). Type “create” and press Enter (↵).
Now you are in Create shipment. The next step is to fill in the first details: Sender, Receiver, Carrier, Product, and Shipping agreement. These fields cannot be completed via the command palette, but you can move through them quickly by using Tab, the arrow keys, and Enter (↵) on your keyboard.
Tab, arrow keys, space, and enter
When selecting the sender and receiver country, carrier, product, and shipping agreement, you can move between fields using the Tab key. It is easy to keep track of where you are, as the active field is clearly highlighted. Search for the countries by typing the name of the relevant country, carrier, and product.
When you move further down to Carrier Services and Additional Services, you can use the Tab key to jump between the different services. If you want to select a service, press Space to mark it.
💡 Expert tip: If you accidentally press Tab one time too many, you can press Shift (⇧) + Tab to go back one field.
Once the first details are in place, you can open the command palette again.
Most options are displayed automatically in the command palette, where you can scroll through them. You can also search directly for the field or action you want to use.
For example, you can:
type “receiver” to edit receiver details
type “return” to change return details
type “colli” to add a colli
You can also use a direct shortcut for some actions, as you can see in the table down below.
Learn the shortcuts by heart
If you use these functions often, it can be an advantage to memorize the shortcuts. That way, you can quickly jump from field to field without opening the command palette first.
