When using order management in Shipmondo, there are three different ways you can pick your orders:

  • Pick with digital pick paths (paperless picking)

  • Pick with pick path lists

  • Pick with pick lists

We recommend that you spend some time reading this article, so that you can choose the solution that best suits your business.

If you are still in doubt about the choice of solution after reading this article, we suggest you start by picking with digital pick paths (you can always switch between the solutions).

In the table below, you can see the overall difference between the picking solutions.

Option 1: Pick with digital pick paths

Picking based on digital pick paths is a flexible picking solution that can be adapted to your workflow and your warehouse. You can choose to pick one order at a time or several orders at once.

If you pick several orders at the same time, it will be an advantage to use a picking trolley with picking trolley boxes.

When you create a pick path, you get a list with an overview of all the items that you need to pick, and, if you have location codes on your items, your lists will be sorted by location, so you only have to go through the warehouse once and you can pick all items that are in the same location at the same time.

Picking instructions can be displayed on all screens (computer, tablet and mobile) and you can view product images directly on the screen. If you use a tablet or mobile, you need to log in to Shipmondo through your browser.

You can see an example of how it looks on tablet and mobile below.

Advantages of digital pick paths:

  • Pick with computer, tablet or mobile

  • Route optimization - save countless steps!

  • Display of product images in the picking route

  • Order check: minimize picking errors with scanner

  • Save paper with a complete digital solution

Pick paths thus optimize your workflow, save you a whole lot of steps while picking items, and increase your efficiency in the warehouse.

Option 2: Pick with pick path lists

When picking with digital pick paths (option 1), you see picking instructions on a screen. This is an advantage, as you save paper and can view product images. Moreover, you also have the opportunity to scan your goods and thus minimize picking errors (order check).

If you do not want to pick from a screen, but prefer to have picking instructions printed on paper, then Shipmondo has that option as well. You can use our pick path lists.

Pick path lists still give you a comprehensive overview of all the items that you need to pick. What’s more, if you have location codes on your items, then your lists will be sorted by location, so you only have to go through the warehouse once, and you can pick all items that are in the same location at the same time.

An example of a pick path list can be seen below.

You can consider optimizing the workflow by using a barcode scanner. This allows quick, easy completion of your orders by scanning the barcode on the delivery notes that are printed along with your pick path list.

Option 3: Pick with pick lists

Picking with pick lists is a simple picking solution for those who do not need picking route optimization and just want to have a pick list printed for each order.

Picking with pick lists only requires that you have a printer to print your pick lists.

A pick list shows the number of items to be picked and, possibly, the location code on the item. An example of a pick list can be seen below.

You can consider optimizing the workflow by using a barcode scanner. This allows quick, easy completion of your orders by scanning the barcode on the pick lists.
