When you create shipments for your packages, they are by default always covered by insurance up to a certain sum, depending on which carrier you use for your shipments.

Through Shipmondo you have the opportunity to purchase extended insurance for your package so that the insurance sum is increased to be more than the carrier’s standard insurance.

The insurance is purchased per package label and can be selected when you book freight for your shipment. You can select insurance under Additional services when you create shipments.

Click the button below, to collect our terms and conditions for extended package insurance.

Coverage up to 2,700 EUR

With extended package insurance, you can increase the insurance sum on your package to up to 2,700 EUR, depending on the carrier you have chosen to use. That way, you increase the insurance sum, and secure your shipment, in the event of an accident.

If you are shipping packages with a high content value, it can be a good idea to purchase extra insurance.

Note! The total value of your package must not exceed the insurance sum.

The insurance is calculated from several criteria, which you can read about in our insurance terms and conditions.

What products can be insured?

Shipmondo’s insurance covers general commodities and electronic products (not including mobile phones).

The insurance does not cover shipments containing used products and goods purchased through private individuals, as well as the following product categories:

  • Alcohol

  • Live animals

  • Processed tobacco products

  • Jewelry

  • Noble metals

  • Precious stones

  • Pearls

  • Money or money representatives

  • Stocks and shares

Easy claim advice form

We have made it easy for you to fill out a claim form. If you are in the unfortunate position of having to make a claim, the claim must be made directly to the concerned carrier, who has handled your package.

To obtain coverage from extended package insurance from Shipmondo, there are two conditions, which must be met:

  1. The carrier must admit the claim

  2. The carrier's valuation of the shipment must exceed the carrier’s coverage sum. If the valuation is lower than the carrier’s coverage sum, the package will be compensated by the carrier’s insurance.

If the carrier admits the claim/compensation, the package will automatically be covered by Shipmondo’s extended package insurance, as long as the general terms and condition for extended package insurance are complied with.

After you have received approval for your claim from the carrier, you should make sure to forward the case to Shipmondo's support via email.
