A Return Portal Basic is a standalone Return Portal where your customers can book return shipping and get a return label without having to link the return to a specific order in Shipmondo.
Shipmondo also offers a Return Portal with Return Management, where the return flow is linked to your orders.
How do you create a Return Portal Basic?
Log in to your Shipmondo account and go to Settings > Return portals.
Click Plus (+) in the bottom-right corner.
Select Basic as the type.
Select Sender country and Language.
Enter your preferred Portal name. The portal name is used to create the link to your Return Portal.
Select Activate return portal, then click Create and continue.
Optional settings
If needed, you can also:
add an optional confirmation text that customers must accept before they can create a return
attach your own return slip, which customers must print, complete and include in the return parcel
require customers to enter a Reference when creating a return. The reference is printed on the return label and can help you identify the return parcel when you receive it
with the Shipmondo Pro subscription plan, select Hide Powered by Shipmondo to remove Shipmondo branding from the bottom of the Return Portal
How do you set up your Return Portal Basic?
Once you click Create and continue, the Return Portal is created and the settings you've selected are saved under the General tab.
To complete the setup, go through the Receiver, Text and Methods tabs.
Receiver: Add company details and logo
Under Receiver, enter the company details that should be used as your return address.
You can also upload your company logo. The maximum logo dimensions are 320 px wide and 80 px high.
Text: Customize the text on your Return Portal
Under Text, you can add the heading and introductory text that customers see on the first page of your Return Portal.
Return methods: Set up your return options
A return method determines how customers can return goods to you. You can add one or more return methods to the same Return Portal.
Click Add.
Enter a Name to be displayed to customers on the Return Portal.
Optionally, add a Description with relevant information.
The description is displayed below the name of the return method and can, for example, include the expected delivery time or opening hours for dropping off return parcels at your location.Select or create the Shipment template to use for the return method.
We recommend creating a separate Shipment template specifically for the Return Portal. Return shipments often require a different setup from outbound shipments. Using a separate template makes your setup easier to maintain and reduces the risk of errors.🔗 Learn how to set up Shipment templates
Enter the Price type, Currency and Price. These fields determine the price the customer pays for return shipping. If return shipping should be free for the customer, enter 0 as the price.
See the separate guide for details on how pricing, settlement and payouts are handled for different setups.

💡 Expert tip:
You can change the order of your return methods by dragging and dropping them under Return methods. The same order is shown to customers on the Return Portal.
If customers should be able to drop off return parcels at your physical address, we recommend creating a separate Shipment template with Drop-off label as the product.
