Shipment parties in Shipmondo

When creating shipments in Shipmondo, we support multiple shipment parties, namely the sender, receiver, freight payer, return address, pickup address, and importer.

Updated today

When you ship packages, there are often more parties involved than just you and your customers.

To ensure smooth delivery and correct billing, it is crucial to understand the different roles such as freight payer, importer, and return recipient. In this guide, we explain the key concepts so you always know who is responsible for what in your logistics, and how to fill in the information in Shipmondo.

💡 Expert Tip: Save the addresses of your sender locations, regular recipients, or partners in your Address book to find them quickly when creating shipments. Alternatively, create specific Shipment templates containing their information.

How to fill in the information

In Shipmondo, we support several shipment parties when you need to create a shipment.

Sender

The information under Sender must reflect the location from which your shipment is sent. If you have multiple sender addresses, you can set up shipment templates containing the information for the various locations so you don't have to enter them every time.

Receiver

The content under Receiver must contain the information of the person or entity receiving your shipment. This could be a customer, a partner, or a third party.

Freight Payer

Under Freight Payer, you must provide information for those paying for the freight if it is not yourself. This is the party legally and financially responsible for paying the transport costs for a shipment.

Note! Carriers have different requirements regarding which information is needed for the freight payer. In Shipmondo, we display the information requested by the specific carrier.

Importer

Under Importer, you must provide information for the party, if any, responsible for the import of a shipment or goods to be sold in a given country. For example, you can use a branch office or an external importer to handle customs if you are shipping to or from a country outside the EU.

Note! Carriers have different requirements regarding which information is needed for the importer. In Shipmondo, we display the information requested by the specific carrier.

Return

If you wish to have packages returned to a different address than the one you are shipping from, you must fill in the information under Return.

Pickup

If you wish to have packages picked up at a different address than the one you are creating the shipment from, you must fill in the information under Pickup.
