Shipment templates are making it easier and faster for you to create shipments through Shipmondo and are central for automating your workflows in Shipmondo.

With templates set up on your Shipmondo account, you can avoid manual entry of the same information every time you need to create a shipment.

You set up a shipment template under Shipments > Templates on your Shipmondo account.

You can, among other things, fill in:

  • Carrier

  • Freight product

  • Shipping agreement

  • Number of parcels in a shipment

  • Weight of your shipments

  • Additional services

We’ve pre-created a range of templates on your Shipmondo account that you can easily adjust, or you can create more as needed. You can create as many templates as you want.

Important: Shipment templates should not be confused with delivery methods on your webshop, as delivery methods specify the method by which the package should be delivered.

A shipment template contains shipping information about the package, including the delivery method.

Templates are therefore only used in Shipmondo and will not appear as a delivery method on your webshop.

When do I use shipment templates?

You can use templates in several places in Shipmondo, such as in your order integration or your return portal. You can also use them when/if you create manual shipments.

Let’s show you an example:

Below you can see a template for PostNord MyPack Collect, booking of one parcel in the weight class 5-10 kg.

If you're sending bicycles where a shipment may consist of e.g. 2 parcels, then you can set the number of parcels to 2  on your template, under Parcel(s).

Using this template will always book two shipments, and two shipping labels will be created for your shipments.

Default template

If you often use a specific carrier or shipping product, you can mark a template as Default.

This way, it’ll always be used for your future shipments as well as in places where a shipment template setup is missing.

Simply check the ‘Default Template’ box when creating or editing a shipment template.

It’s especially convenient to set up a default template if you create shipments manually, as it saves you from having to choose the same carrier, product, or services each time.

Automate creation of customs documents

If you're sending outside of the EU, you can create shipping templates with prefilled customs information.

It allows you to automate the creation of your customs declaration and pro forma invoice.

The customs form will automatically appear on the template, as soon as you choose a combination of carrier, sender and receiver country, where a customs declaration is required and supported at Shipmondo.

Example of a US shipping template:
