If you’re running a WooCommerce webshop and want to offer local pickup, there are a few steps to take in order to automate the process.
Setting up the delivery method in your shop
In your WooCommerce admin, go to WooCommerce > Settings > Shipping > Local pickup.
Consult the WooCommerce guide for information on configuring your local pickup.
Create a test order using this method, so the order and delivery method are imported into your Shipmondo account.
Mapping the delivery method in Shipmondo
Log in to your Shipmondo account and go to Settings > Integrations > Orders. Once your test order has been imported, you’ll see the new delivery method Pickup at store under Delivery methods.
Click on it, then click Create template.
Create a template for this delivery method by selecting Unspecified carrier and Pickup label.
Remember to select the type of notification (email and/or SMS) you want to use for pickup orders.
Click Create, then Save.
Setting up a Personalized message
You can design and send a personalized message to your customers when their orders are ready for pickup, so they know when and where to collect it.
Here’s how to set up custom messages in Shipmondo:
Note! You need to select the trigger Order status: Ready for pickup, and you can tailor the message text to suit your pickup flow and what you want to communicate to your customer.
How to manage local pickup orders
Once you’ve completed the steps above, you’ll be ready to process your first local pickup orders.
The order is handled just like any other order, with the only difference being that no standard shipping label is created. Instead, an address label is printed, which you can use to mark the package, making it easier to locate when the customer arrives for pickup.
Once the address label has been created, the order status will automatically update to Ready for pickup.
💡 Expert tips:
If you want to manage all your pickup orders together, use order filtering to group orders with the same delivery method into a separate view. This makes it easier to find the right order when the customer shows up.
Use our scanner solution to complete pickup orders quickly and accurately by scanning the barcode on the pickup label.
Set up an integration to your payment gateway to automate payment capture for your pickup orders.
