Examples of Setup and Use of Shipping Templates

Here you will find examples of how to set up and use shipping templates in Shipmondo.

Updated today

Shipping templates in Shipmondo can be configured in various ways and used in different contexts. This guide will walk you through examples of the setup and application of our shipping templates.

If our examples do not cover your specific needs and you require assistance, please feel free to contact us.

Setup Examples

Example 1: Setting up a template for PostNord Service Point

In this example, we show a template with pre-filled information for booking shipments within Sweden using DHL Freight to a Service Point (pick-up point).

  • Shipping agreement: The shipment is booked using Shipmondo’s shipping agreement.

  • Sender address: This is left blank, meaning the sender information from your Company Information or Order Integration will be used.

  • Receiver address: This is left blank, meaning the receiver information from the order will be used.

Shipmondo Order Management

If you use Shipmondo Order Management along with our Delivery Checkout, the customer’s chosen Service Point will be automatically selected for booking when you use this template.

The Weight on the template is set to 1 kg. However, if you have enabled Use transferred weight under your order integration, the weights automatically transferred from the items on the order will be applied instead of the weight specified on the template.

Read more about linking a template to a delivery method on your webshop here.

Example 2: Using the same template for multiple destination countries (Order Management)

If you have a webshop that sells to multiple countries, you can use a single shipping template for several destination countries. This allows you to keep your setup simple instead of creating one template per country.

Note! To use one template for multiple countries, the Carrier and Product must be supported across those countries.

The receiver country on the order takes precedence

In this example, we show a template with pre-filled information for booking shipments from Denmark to Sweden with GLS, using the product Euro Business Parcel.

This template can be used for Sweden, but it can also be linked to delivery methods on your webshop for other countries where Euro Business Parcel is available (e.g., Germany).

When booking shipments, the receiver country from the order will be applied rather than the country specified on the template, as the order information takes precedence.

Example 3: Setting up a template for the Return Portal

When creating a shipping template for use in the Return Portal, please note the following:

  • Sender country is the country the customer is returning the item from. And the receiver country is the country used for the return address.

  • Not all carrier products can be used in the Return Portal. The compatible products are marked with "Usable for Return portal" under the product name.

Example 4: Setting up VOEC for shipments to Norway

If you ship from Sweden to Norway and are VOEC registered, it is beneficial to use a specific template for Sweden to Norway where you pre-fill your VOEC number. This ensures the number is included in bookings for the carriers we support when using that template.

VOEC must be selected under Carrier Services. Once selected, the field will become available under the Sender section.
